Hawaiian Style Ceremony

The modern Hawaiian wedding is usually a combination of Hawaiian and Christian traditions. Part of the ceremony is in English, and part of it is in Hawaiian. In addition, the bride and groom perform the lei exchange ceremony. There are many other traditions that the officiant can explain to you when you discuss the specifics of your ceremony. We like to add a very special Hawaiian touch to our Hawaiian ceremonies, but only as much as our clients desire. We can add any of the following services to your wedding to make it a more traditional Hawaiian wedding, appreciating all elements of the culture.
Kahu, (Hawaiian Minister)
Lei Greeters
Hula Flower Girl
Hawaiian oli (chanter)
Conch Shell Blower
Polynesian Dancers
Hawaiian Musicians
Fire Dancer
Kahili Bearers
Torch/Tiki Lighters

A sample arrangement includes:
The Conch Shell Blower will begin the processional.
A Torch Maiden/Polynesian Dancer will follow to signify the entrance of the bridal party for the processional.
It is optional to have a Hawaiian drummer play a rhythmic beat for the processional. Many couples choose Hawaiian music instead.
The Kahili bearers will precede the bride during the processional. Kahili bearers signify the entrance of someone important.
During the sand ceremony, the Torch Maiden/Polynesian Dancer will perform a special hula to the "Hawaiian Wedding Song"
Following the pronouncement of the couple, the Torch Maiden will perform the Tahitian Otea to celebrate the the couple's first appearance as husband and wife.
