Dates to consider or avoid when planning your wedding...

Brides are often surprised when florists, site providers, and other wedding professionals charge additional fees for their services and products for certain wedding dates. Sometimes, the reason to avoid the date is not financially based...it may be because of an event that concurs with your date, or a change in daylight savings time that may cause some complications. LAHAINA GRILL...our favorite restaurant on Maui!

When I am on Maui, it is a MUST that I consume at least one dinner at Lahaina Grill http://www.lahainagrill.com/. The food and service are the best on the island. Always a unique blend of ingredients that tempt the palate. A fabulous wine list thanks to somelier Richard. Love Mary at the bar and Debbie! Jurg is the hard working, proud owner who is always so personable and kind to all of his dining guests. I love that they support local Hawaiian farmers and use organic foods.

I am an appetizer and salad kind of person. Some of my personal faves include...
THE CAKE WALK: Petite servings of Kona lobster crab cake, sweet Louisiana rock shrimp cake and seared ahi
STEAMED MANILA CLAMS: White wine, parsley broth, pancetta, served with herbed garlic crostini
RECONSTRUCTED CALIFORNIA ROLL: Dungeness crab salad, avocado, sweet rice and cilantro-ginger vinaigrette CRISPY FRIED BLUE CORN CRUSTED CHILE RELLENO: Filled with Hawaiian Big Island prawns, scallops and Monterey jack cheese, served on roasted sweet Kula corn relish with Fuerte avocados and red tomato
BUFALA TOMATO SALAD: Hana tomatoes, bufala mozzarella, truffle oil, aged balsamic vinaigrette, seasoned with black Kilauea sea salt
WARM PECAN CRUSTED GOAT CHEESE AND BABY ARUGULA SALAD Pears, roasted beets, Poha berry honey-mustard dressing
KULA MIXED GREENS:  Southwestern vinaigrette dressing and your choice of Feta or Gorgonzola cheese
BABY ROMAINE CAESAR SALAD: Garlic-anchovy dressing, croutons and shaved Parmesan cheese   SWEET KULA CORN SOUP:  Chive crème fraîche
This is my mom's fave:  CENTER CUT 12OZ. NEW YORK STEAK:  Wild mushroom-balsamic demi-glace and herbed gratin potatoes
This is my hubby's fave: KONA COFFEE ROASTED RACK OF LAMB: Light coffee-Cabernet demi-glace, herb infused mashed potatoes
Chocolate lovers should order this: SUNKEN CHOCOLATE CAKE: Flourless chocolate decadence with Kona coffee ice cream

DRESS UP YOUR TABLE

Wedding couples today seem to prefer the SIMPLE ELEGANCE look for their wedding. There are many ways to achieve this look. Simple accessories can create a beautiful, picture-worthy table at your wedding. Plus, you can keep them and use them for parties you may have at home. Some couples use these as favors for their guests, as well. The price tag and decor do not have to be over the top to create the breathtaking vision of your wedding. The web site http://www.alwayselegant.com/ has beautiful napkin rings, votive holders, and other decorated items. It saves you time from decorating plan items on your own, and you can color coordinate your items. Keep in mind that bold jewel tones are going to be the color trend for the next year of weddings.
Here are some samples from their site to entice you.

SANSEI KAPALUA

Going back to Sansei in Kapalua tonight for my favorite foods there and a fun time with bartender Trudy.
The sushi chef always laughs at me because I always order Hamachi before I even order my drink! They have the best Japanese yellowtail.
I LOVE the Panko Crusted Ahi Sashimi Sushi Roll.

And, the Miso Butterfish is a MUST HAVE.

A treat is the Lobster & Blue Crab Ravioli, served in a Truffled Shiitake Mushroom and Madiera Cream Sauce. You'll wish they served bread so you could soak up the sauce. It is amazing!

If there is ANY room to share dessert, the apple tart with carmel sauce and ice cream is calorie-worthy.
